Praise Of Slowness

Hong Kong with an area of 1,104 km2 (like Rhode Island) and with a population of seven million people is the city with the highest population density in the world. The territory consists of Hong Kong Island (in red on the map), Kowloon Peninsula,  New Territories,  Lantau Island and  261 other islands located offshore. The City that you know, the one with the skyscrapers, the buildings on top of each other, the street markets and the super mega shopping malls is the green band on the north of the Hong Kong Island. 10.5 miles in all, 25 minutes by taxi without traffic, 17 MTR stops. Sociological Experiment – Chapter 2

I admit, the sociological experiment (for those who do not know what I’m talking about, read HERE) is proceeding slowly. It’s my fault. I am becoming a horrible Hongkonger who looks at the phone and does not talk to anyone. In my defense I can say that people are not very helpful, the few times I have been brave and I started talking to someone, I did not get great results. Here is a list of my failed attempts and those that have almost been successful: Asian girl in her 20s at the Vietnamese restaurant: “Hi, can I sit next to you? You know I do not like eating alone.” Moment of silence. “I love eating alone”. Moment of silence.

YOGA

I know, it’s too long I do not write. I would like to update you on my Sociological Experiment, I would like to tell you about the horrific giant cockroaches that infest my home, I would like to take a few hours off to discover the lost corners of Hong Kong, like taking the ferry, leaving the island and go to read the future from Mong Kok’s fortune tellers.
